CHE COS’E’ LA FOOD VALLEY

“People who love to eat are always the best”

(Julia Child)

But how much do we agree with this legendary American cook, writer and TV personality? I am sure that if she had taken a tour of our Food Valley she would have greatly appreciated what she would have tasted there.

Food Valley in Parma.

First of all, let’s try to understand what the Food Valley is and where we can see and taste it.

WHAT IS THE FOOD VALLEY

It is a limited area that includes a territory and particularly fertile cities that give rise to traditional gastronomic products, considered the national culinary cradle and which even become known throughout the world .

In Italy, the Food Valley is located in the Po Valley, in particular in the Emilia Romagna region. It includes the area from Parma to Modena. In this area there are excellences that deserve the name of Food Valley: about thirty products with Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) are registered. Furthermore, there are over two hundred products considered “traditional” so as to be recognized globally.

FOOD MUSEUMS

The Food Museums are located between Parma and Reggio Emilia, they are eight museums dedicated to the excellent food products of the Food Valley area.

You will be able to discover the history and origins of our products, as well as the methods of cultivation and production of what arrives on our tables. You will have a wide choice between:

TOMATO MUSEUM
PORCINO MUSHROOM MUSEUM
PASTA MUSEUM
PARMIGIANO REGGIANO MUSEUM
CULATELLO MUSEUM
PARMA HAM MUSEUM
